E4All’s ERDF-funded Think Food & Drink project is helping food and drink manufacturers across the North West to win more business, to diversify and to improve their profits. In recent months, not one but two beneficiaries of the project have gone on to win prestigious regional awards. (More...) |

Traditionally, many SMEs have struggled to engage with major buyers in the public and private sectors because the tendering process has been perceived to be difficult, time consuming and expensive. In an effort to address this barrier to an important regional market, Enterprise4All is now developing a new procurement programme that could help smaller businesses to become part of the supply chains of local authorities, private developers and other key organisations within the North West. For many years now, Enterprise4All has been providing specialist support for start-up businesses and, with the launch of its various new programmes and services, it will be well placed to continue this support in the coming years. However, another important aspect of this work is the promotion of entrepreneurship as a career choice, which is why it has teamed up with an award winning businesswoman, Safiya Hussain, who is helping to spread the word amongst Lancashire schools. Most economic development professionals would accept that it pays to invest in the skills and capabilities of the region’s business leaders. Certainly, this is a view shared by E4All and, to this end, it has launched a new support package that enables SMEs to take advantage of public funding support for one to one leadership and management coaching. As business owners look for new ways of making contacts and maintaining skills, E4All has begun working with professional and media partners to launch a Lancashire-wide Business Improvement Club (BiC). Available on a ‘pay as you go’ basis, the events will enable entrepreneurs to learn from experts, meet other like-minded business people and discuss subjects they most want to see covered.
